Frequently Asked Questions

I will answer the most commonly asked questions, if your question isn't answered here please use the 'contact Beata' page to ask directly, I will reply as quickly as possible.

Question: How much does the tuition cost?

Group tuition is £99 per month. This is a fixed monthly fee and remains the same regardless of how many lessons take place in that month.

Students typically receive three to four live lessons per month, but the fee does not change if a month has fewer or more sessions. NB When signing up part way through the month the initial charge is pro-rata.

Upon signing up, parents are also asked to pay a deposit of £99 - the deposit covers your one month’s notice.

Question: What does the monthly fee include?

The £99 monthly fee includes much more than just the live lessons.

It covers:

Weekly live group lessons (term time, as per calendar)

Homework tasks linked directly to lesson content

Personalised written feedback on homework

Ongoing academic support via Google Classroom

Access to lesson materials and resources throughout the year

This is a structured programme with continuous support, not pay-as-you-go tuition.

Question: How many students are in each group?

Group sizes are carefully managed to ensure high-quality teaching and meaningful participation.

Year 9-11 groups have between 6 and 10 students

Groups are never larger than 10

More discussion-based groups are usually kept to 6-8 students

Quieter groups may increase to up to 10 to encourage idea-sharing and different perspectives

Year 7 and 8 groups have between 4 and 6 students

Group numbers are adjusted thoughtfully based on learning style and group dynamic.

Question: Do I need to pay during the school holidays?

The tuition year runs from September to July.

Monthly fees are payable for every month from September to July

This includes months with school holidays (e.g. Christmas and Easter), as lessons still run across the academic year

No fees are charged in August

Payments pause in August and automatically resume in September

Question: How will I know what my child is doing and whether they’re making progress?

Parents are given visibility into their child’s learning through:

Access to Google Classroom

Access to their child’s Google Docs

Ongoing written feedback left directly on their work

You can clearly see what your child is working on, the feedback they receive, and how their writing develops over time.

Question: What makes this different from school lessons?

This programme offers support that school simply cannot provide at scale.

Students benefit from:

Small, focused groups of like-minded learners

Live, in-lesson feedback on their writing

A tutor actively overseeing and responding to their work during lessons

Teaching that adapts to the group rather than following a rigid scheme

Question: Is homework compulsory?

Homework is optional, but strongly encouraged.

Completing homework allows students to:

Apply what they’ve learned independently

Receive personalised examiner-style feedback

Make faster and more secure progress over time

Homework provides an important additional feedback loop that accelerates improvement.

Question: How is this different from other tuition programmes?

This programme is designed and led by a GCSE examiner with extensive classroom and examining experience.

Key differences include:

• Every lesson focuses on one specific exam question

• Students are trained to think like an examiner

• Teaching is explicitly linked to the mark scheme

• Students learn how to structure answers to maximise marks

Many capable students underachieve in exams not because of weak ability, but because they don’t understand how marks are awarded. This programme directly addresses that gap.

Question: My child isn't struggling, is tuition still worthwhile?

Yes. Many parents come to me early because they want their child to:

Build strong exam technique before pressure increases

Understand exactly how marks are awarded

Avoid last-minute panic in Year 11

Starting earlier allows us to develop confidence, precision, and examiner-style thinking rather than rushing content later.

Question: Do you tutor online or in person?

All tuition is delivered online. Lessons are interactive, structured, and highly effective. Online tuition also allows:

Easy sharing of model answers and live annotations

Recorded resources (where appropriate)

Access for international students

Question: What commitment is required?

My packages run on a monthly basis. This allows time for genuine progress rather than short-term fixes. English is a skill-based subject, and improvement comes from consistency and feedback over time.

Question: How do we get started?

The first step is to get in touch with a brief overview of your child:

Year group

Exam board

Current grades or concerns

I will then advise on the most appropriate next step, whether that’s a diagnostic, a group place, or a one-to-one package.

Question: What is your cancellation and attendance policy?

Group tuition runs as a structured programme, so missed lessons cannot be refunded or credited.

However:

All lessons are recorded

If a student is unable to attend a live lesson, they can watch the recording at a time that suits them

Students can still complete the related work and receive feedback on their homework.

This ensures students can stay on track with the programme even if they occasionally miss a live session.
